Have always been interesting in tarot reading, but never could really learn it well, so i'd just do some notes here, for keepsake.

Wheel of Fortune
10th card of the major arcana, it depicts the wheel in the middle, signifying the everchanging and cycling fortune and fate.
To the right of the wheel is Eygptian God Anubis, the ex god of death (present lord of death is Osiris), now god who watches over the mummification process, and judges souls by placing their heart on the Scales of Justice, and feeds the wicked to Ammit (Eater of the dead, devourer, seating beneath the scales of justice. (More on this in the legend of osiris, coming next!)

To the left of the wheel is a snake, which signifies typhon (Greek mythology: son of gaia [mother earth] and tartarus, a creature with hundred serpent heads, wanted to destroy the heavens but stopped by zeus, who kept him pinned under a mountain)
Note: tartarus is a place? a deep pit below the earth [similar to hell] where cronus [titan, first son of titan gaia and uranus(gaia's son)] was kept/ banished to.

Sitting on top of the wheel is the sphinx. This brings us to the story of Oedipus and the sphinx.
King lauis of Thebes learned from an oracle that his son would one day kill him and marry his mother Jocasta, so he ordered to pierce his son's ankles and tie them to leather cords, in a deserted mountain. But a shepherd found him, and brought him to Polybus, king of Corinth, where he was adopted and called Oedipus (swollen foot), and they never told him he was adopted.
However, Oedipus learnt of the prophecy, and decided to leave Corinth, to prevent killing Polybus. On his journey, he met a traveller and killed him (guess who?), and as he reached the gates of THebes, a sphinx was there, killing everyone who could not answer her riddle. Oedipus managed to answer it What walks on four legs in the morning, two legs at noon, and three legs in the evening? Oedipus solved the riddle, answering that man crawls on all fours in infancy, walks upright on two legs in adulthood, and uses a cane as a third leg in old age. The sphinx upon hearing it, was so frustrated she killed herself. The people of Thebes were grateful, and made him king, seeing the Lauis had not returned for a long time, and Jocasta was made his wife.
Soon, everyone found out the truth, Jocasta hung herself, and Oedipus went to exile (he ordered to sent the murdering of king lauis to exile) and died at the shrine of Eumenides at Colonus, near Athens.

OMG one card and it took me so long to explain all the details. ok i shall add the divinator meaning next time.

during tuition with my kid today, she said

tutee: did you get your results back yesterday?

me: no, but i got 2 of them back already.

tutee: did u do well?

me. er ok lah. y?

tutee: cos u were esp chatty yesterday!

then she went on to explain how my sms replies were usually 1-2 sentences, but yesterday the sms-es were like 2 sms-es long. so she tot something good might have happened.

and boy was she right! something did lift my spirits up a bit ytd. and also. i was quite suprised that people could read me like a book. =>

OMG they're here!! haha by some strange twist of fate, my mum's fren's sister's daughter (i think) couldn't make it for this concert, so it ended up with us! 3 tickets in all, 2 for my bro and his gf, and one for me! hahaha even tho i'll be like an ultra bright lightbulb, i dun care! haha it's jeff chang! oldies! hahahahaha so high now. (esp since it's free!) Thanks to aunt annie!!

And i went for a mini concert by this oboe guy (who's not in the pic). Anyone knows where this is?? anyways. Oboe is really one of the best sounding reed instruments i know of (partly because of nodame cantabile too =P). like a suona, but it sounds so much more 含蓄,腼腆. dynamics are so well controlled, and it sounds so clean. so much cleaner than a suona. hahahahaha i'm like suan-ing the suona but anyways, i'm glad i went for the concert, even though i got the timing wrong and turned up half an hour late.

yep that's all!

watched huangcheng on sat, and thanks god for the last play! it was the saving grace for the whole show!! haha but no matter how good or bad it is, the feeling i get during 谢幕is always the same: the warm, comfortable wave that rushes through my body.

but that really isn't what i wanted to say. after that i went for supper with rl, then decided to take a short walk through the CBD area b4 i take 190 or NR3 home. BUT then i forgot that there weren't any night riders on sundays! just then, i saw a 961 drive past. well, that'll have to do. at most i'll get my bro to fetch me from bukit panjang. so without thinking, i got on and thot it was all settled..

AND THEN. i realised i took 961 in the wrong direction, and ended up in kallang. KALLANG. how was i supposed to get home from there? BUT BUT resourceful me rmb-ed that wthere was 67 there, so after 5mins of seraching, i found the bus stop, only to realised that the last bus timing was already 10mis past. then i thot again: wun be so suay one. maybe the bus's late??

so i waited.. and waited. then i gave up. just then, i noticed there was this malay guy at the same bus stop. so, in a bid to save money, i decided to ask him where he was going.. nad lo and behold! he was going to CCK! haha so we ended up sharing a cab back home.

ok so after all this ranting, i was wanted to say how conincidental this whole incident was!

ok that's abt it..

While mugging at my fav bench today, i had this strange feeling. almost like someone was tickling my heart. kinda uncomfortable, but wierdly surreal at the same time.
Then the tickle got so unbearably that i started smiling to myself.
I tried to shake it off, but it just wouldn't give up.
It was then i realised - it was time to go home; no mugging would be possible with this going on.

oh wait. i'm not going mad from mugging if that's what u're thinking.

some random thots while mugging.

Do u guys wipe the toliet seat with toilet paper before using? most people do right??

Did u ever hope that the cup of cup noodles would never run out of noodles so u can keep eating until you're full? btw, the nissin chicken and mushroom flavor is one of the best and cheapest ones out there.

Learning driving might not be such a bad thing after all. Esp in the long term. when i go overseas. some places just require u to drive ard yourself and soak in all the sights and sounds ard you.
but in s'pore? why drive when mrt and buses get u everywhere? (let's see when i'll regret saying that)

Learning a new piano piece is not easy, esp when it's like 123413728543217 levels above mine. -.-

ar can't keep on crapping like that. mug mug.

yay finally we had our humcha lunch for cny! helped out my mum with preparation, and also took photos! so this will just be a photo thingy.

Sunday, February 10, 2008

This year's cny has been the most different and probably the most enjoyable one i've had during the recent years.

some traditions were lost, reunion dinner was brought forward, and on cny eve itself we had steamboat. the first ever in my house. also the wasn't any 擂茶on初二, neither was there dinner at an aunt's place, or any cny games.

well i guess it only makes u value these cny gatherings more, and really, as time goes on, it will have to be the younger generation trying to keep things going, if we want any of the remaining stuff to still be there in 5 years, 10 years, or more.

meeting up with my cousins, playing with the baby nieces were of course enjoyable, esp when i don't see them that much nowadays, but what felt more special were the other events, stuff like going back to chinese high and hwachong with sophie, meeting up with the co ppl, k-boxing with cousins, humcha with the mum's friends...

i guess it's relieving to know that i still have something outside medicine, where whatever we talk about has nothing to do with medicine. no talk about medical terms, so oh-so-annoying medicine related jokes, and stuff like that. oh and also where there's more to talk about besides my scandals (i guess that's because we have more stuff to talk about since we dun meet up that mucH)

OH AND I FINISHED 2 JDRAMAS THIS CNY BREAK!! namely nodame cantible (thks to rina) and nobuta wo produce (i guess jinx would know this) jdramas are so so so nice! and thks to nodame, there's suddenly this urge to be in an orchestra, and more strongly, an urge to play the piano again!!
